What we're doing...

Helping Hands for Honduras, Inc. undertakes dozens of construction projects every year, including roads, water pipelines and home building.  Construction was recently completed on a new medical clinic in La Paz, Soledad in the province of El Paraiso.

In early March 2007 Helping Hands for Honduras, Inc. invited Dr. Robert Mangano, Director of the  Pediatric Cardiac Cath Lab in the Janet Weis Children's Hospital at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville PA to do catheterizations on three-year-old Elder Medina and nine-month -old Ashlee Lopez.

MEDICAL MISSIONS- As word of the visiting medical professionals spreads, the people from the surrounding villages travel many miles to see these doctors and nurses. For some, it's the first time they have ever been examined by a doctor!

COMMUNITY CHAPEL - The village of Capulín, Soledad, El Paraíso has its own chapel dedicated to St. Joseph the Worker (San José, Obrero) in recognition of the support from St. Joseph Parish in Danville, Pennsylvania. Besides serving as a site for religious worship and instruction, it also provides several communities a center for organizational meetings, adult education, and similar activities.

CLINIC - Pictured here is the new clinic in the village of the La Paz, Soledad, El Paraíso which provides medical services to this remote region. The clinic is staffed with full-time medical professionals and will also be used by visiting medical brigades from the United States.

CLEAN, SAFE WATER IS NO PROBLEM FOR THOSE WHO LIVE IN THE FIRST WORLD ... BUT IT IS A LUXURY IN THE POOR NATIONS OF THE THIRD WORLD! Hundreds of thousands of infants die each year of diarrhea caused by impure water. Because our mission statement reads, in part, “[to help] improve the quality of life for the people and the communities of Honduras,” HELPING HANDS FOR HONDURAS has sponsored several clean water projects over the years.

Salvatorian Mission Warehouse - The Salvatorian Mission Warehouse, located in New Holstein, WI recently collected and shipped a container full of shoes for us to distribute to the poor. Pictured here is a woman helping a child with her new shoes. HHH distributed the shoes in different villages throughout Soledad, El Paraíso, including La Paz, Huerta Vieja, Agua Dulce, El Tapiado, Capulín and other nearby areas.
